INFORMATION: Annual Conference Internship

 
FVMA ANNUAL CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP/INTERNSHIP
PURPOSE
To provide a student who is interested in the public assembly facility management profession and/or a related field an opportunity to learn more about the profession and industry by attending the Annual FVMA Conference.  Also, it will provide the chance to network with practitioners within the field to learn of internship and job opportunities in the State of Florida.
AWARD
Recipient will receive $500 following the end of the Annual Meeting to offset his/her expenses. In addition the recipient’s Annual Meeting registration fee will be waived; however, the recipient will be required to pay for any extra curricular activities (e.g., spa, golf, etc.)
ELIGIBILITY
Open to a student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a university or college within the State of Florida (or to a student who is a resident of Florida and enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a university or college in a state other than Florida) with a major in event, facility or sport management, arts administration, hospitality, tourism and/or a field related to the public assembly industry.
A student who has graduated within three months prior to FVMA’s Annual Meeting would be eligible as well as a student who lacks the aforementioned academic background, but has demonstrated an interest through significant volunteer and/or work experience in the field.
Recipient may receive this scholarship/internship only once.
REQUIREMENTS/CRITERIA
If a student is a resident of the state of Florida and attends a university or college in a state other than Florida the student must provide a copy of his/her state of Florida driver’s license to the Scholarship Chair along with the application.
During the conference, the recipient will be a key part of the conference planning team with responsibilities including but not limited to:
  1. Registration – checking in attendees, providing credentials and materials, answering questions
  2. Coordinating and placing sponsor signage at sessions and events
  3. Collect, store and sort giveaways for closing event
  4. Set up hospitality suite each night and monitor supplies while suite is open
  5. Other duties as assigned
